OSIWA partners with NRA on Tax Education

The Open Society Initiative for West Africa (OSIWA) is funding some NRA tax education activities for a period of one year. The project which is approved under OSIWA’s Economic Governance and Advancement Program covers taxpayer workshops and tax clinics among others.

The project was launched during a Taxpayer Sensitisation Workshop held on Friday 4th May 2018 at the Buxton Memorial Hall, Charles Street. The Director of Internal Controls and Audit Mr. Philip Koroma who represented the Commissioner-General outlined the Authority’s Taxpayer Strategy over the years and commended OSIWA for partnering with the NRA to promote voluntary compliance.

The OSIWA Country Officer Joe Pemagbi stated that the rationale for this partnership is to reduce dependence on the extractive sector in domestic revenue mobilisation. He hoped the project will help improve the Authority's tax education drive and hence domestic revenue mobilisation.

OSIWA has provided similar support to the Liberian Revenue Authority.
