Job Title: Deputy Commissioner
REPORT TO: Commissioner, Customs Service Department
Responsible For: All Staff in the Customs Service Department
Key Tasks/Responsibilities:
- Reports to the Commissioner of Customs and Excise on customs operations and policy implementation
- Keeps the customs management posted of progress in revenue collection and other related work
- Enforce all laws and regulations relating to import, export and excise
- Discharge certain statutory functions bestowed on him under the customs statute Monitor and provide management assistance to staff of support departments attached to CED
- Monitor progress on the implementation of reforms under the modernization project.
- Monitor progress on the implementation of best practical from the WCO, WTO and other international organizations
- Perform any other function assigned to him/her by the Commissioner-General
Skills/Competencies
- Ability to manage human and financial resources;
- Demonstrated a high degree of professional, administrative competencies;
- Evidence of analytical skills and ability to manage critical issues under pressure;
- High ethical standard and integrity;
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in the use of computer application packages such as Ms. Word, Excel and Access;
- Effective communication skills
- High team spirit
Education/Experience
A minimum of a Masters Degree in Accounting, Economics, Public Finance or related field of study, with at least five (5) years working experience in Public Finance Management in a Customs environment.
Nationality
Candidates must be a Sierra Leonean
