NRA Donates Relief Items To The Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

The National Revenue Authority has on Friday 29th May, 2020 donated relief items worth 300 Million Leones to the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) as the institution's support towards the fight against the COVID- 19 Pandemic. The package included food and non-food items (500 bags of rice-50kg, onions, Mattresses, pillows, liquid soap, hand sanitizers and other essential items). Presenting the items to the EOC team, the Commissioner General Dr. Samuel S. Jibao said "one of the institutions affected by COVID-19 is the NRA". "Even though the shock is not as severe as expected, the recent trend now is most businesses are suspending their activities, and this is worrisome in any economy even though 95% of the first quarter target was met. We anticipate a speedy recovery so things can return to normal in the coming months Dr. Jibao continued". At the level of the Board of Directors at the NRA, we are impressed with Government's strides in handling the pandemic and we feel the NRA can cushion expenditure by providing these items as put forward by Saa Jumu, a member of the NRA Board. Responding to the gesture, the Communications lead at EOC Solomon Jamiru appreciated the NRA and described the presentation as timely and ideal for quarantined and Isolated centres. He assured the NRA of judicious use of the items. By way of update, Jamiru said that current stats indicate there is a decline in the number of infections. Let’s remain hopeful to see a continuous decline in those numbers said Jamiru as he reiterated Government's commitment to containing the pandemic. The presentation is one of the many isolated interventions of the NRA regarding National Issues.
