Responsible for:   All Staff in the Customs Services Department
 
Key Tasks/Responsibilities
 
• Report to the Commissioner-General of NRA on Customs Operations
• Keeps the NRA Management posted of progress in Revenue collection and other related work
• Discharges certain statutory functions bestowed on him under the Customs Statute
• Supervises the functioning of the Deputy and the Assistant Commissioners of Customs
• Exercise administrative control and supervision over import and export clearance
• Monitors the proper implementation of Customs Laws and border control regulations; including instructions/guidelines issued by central government from time to time on administrative and technical matters
• Expert jurisdiction over entire Customs work
• Works with other MDAs, government functionaries and foreign government in suppressing illegal traffic in narcotics and pornography.
• Perform any other function assigned to him/her by the Commissioner-General.

- Knowledge and hands-on experience in the use of computer application packages such as Ms. Word, Excel and Access;

Qualifications: A minimum of a master’s degree with not less than 5 years post qualification experience and a proven track record in customs and excise policy and administration.
