In a significant boost to operational efficiency, the Administration Department of the National Revenue Authority (NRA) has begun distribution of Fifty (50) fleet of Honda XR 150 motorbikes to Operational and Support departments. Ten (10) motorbikes were distributed to Customs Services Department, Eleven (11) to the Domestic Tax Department, Six (6) to the Non-Tax Revenue Department and the remaining Twenty Three (23) were distributed among the support services departments.
The Director of Administration Mrs. Fredricka M. Kella expressed that the initiative aims to enhance mobility and improve the effectiveness of NRA operations, allowing officers to conduct inspections and enforce tax compliance.
During the distribution at customs, the Deputy Commissioner of Customs Richard H. Senesie stated that the bikes will be assigned to customs staff stationed at various Border Crossing points. He further underscored the Authority’s commitment to modernizing border management and facilitating trade while ensuring compliance with existing laws.
In his statement while thanking the Commissioner General for her astute leadership, the Assistant Commissioner for Border Controls and Management John B. Amara noted that the procurement of the motorbikes is expected to significantly reduce response time for customs officers, enabling them to better monitor cross-border activities and tackle smuggling and other illicit trade practices. Mr. Amara highlighted that this initiative not only promotes efficiency but also enhances the safety of customs staff, who often navigate challenging terrains and remote areas.
It is expected that the NRA will continue implementing measures aimed at strengthening its operations.
