A delegation from the National Revenue Authority Sierra Leone led by the Commissioner of Customs Services Department Tennyson Bio including Felix Jusu Assistant Commissioner- Monitoring Intelligence and Investigations, Mrs. Lizbal Heroe Assistant Commissioner- Central Services, Alie Bangura ICT Consultant, Jarieu Daramy- Manager ASYCUDA Technical Team and Erica Vandi Officer in Charge of the ASYCUDA Functional team at Customs has embarked on a benchmarking mission to the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) to evaluate the successful implementation of the ASYCUDA WORLD system. The primary objective of this visit is to learn from GRA's experiences in fully integrating this customs management software, which aims to enhance operational efficiency and revenue collection. The NRA Customs team seeks to identify key successes and best practices that can be adapted to improve their own customs processes.
Commissioner Bio emphasized the deep ties between Sierra Leone and the Gambia which is why the two revenue administrations should collaborate closely. He further expressed the purpose of the visit in which he stated that it was to solicit support to close the gaps in the NRA Customs ASYCUDA World thereby referencing GRA’s efforts to tackle all the major issues of successfully implementing the system.
In addition to gathering insights, the NRA delegation hopes to solicit support from GRA to aid in the complete implementation and optimization of ASYCUDA WORLD. This collaboration is expected to foster a stronger partnership between the two countries' revenue authorities, ultimately contributing to better customs management and increased revenue generation in Sierra Leone.
